Questions patients often ask
Do I need a referral from another doctor?
No. You can book directly. If you have seen another doctor, bring their notes and prescriptions.
What should I bring to the consultation?
Any old scans (ultrasound, CT, X-ray), blood and urine reports, and a list of the medicines you take. If you have a stone that has passed, bring it in a clean container. It can be tested.
Can every kidney stone be removed without an operation?
Small stones often pass with medicines and plenty of water. Larger ones are usually removed with a laser through a thin scope, with no cut on the skin. Only very large stones need a keyhole procedure (PCNL).
I'm embarrassed to talk about a sexual problem. What happens?
The conversation is private and nothing is shared without your consent. These problems are very common and usually have a medical cause that can be treated. You can come alone or with your partner.
Is the treatment covered by insurance?
Most procedures are covered by health insurance and many government schemes. Bring your insurance card or scheme details and the hospital desk will check eligibility.
